About

Rena Sultan spent 25 years working inside complex organizations before founding Lynchpin. Fifteen of those years were at the City of Burnaby, where she worked across Finance and Engineering at a senior level. She founded Lynchpin to do the work she does best, helping municipal leaders navigate change with someone who has been in the room.

My Story

I started my career at KPMG in Singapore and London, qualifying as a CPA and working across audit and consulting. From there I moved into investment banking with Deutsche Bank and UBS in London, where I spent years transforming fragmented processes into efficient operations. That work taught me something important;  brilliant technical solutions fail without attention to how people actually work.

In 2008 I moved to Vancouver and spent 15 years in senior leadership roles at the City of Burnaby, including as Director of Business Operations in Engineering. Those years gave me something no training program can replicate. I know how municipal government actually works. The budget cycles, the political dynamics, the culture of change, the weight of public accountability. I have navigated all of it.

How I Work

Every Lynchpin engagement is built around your specific context. That might mean an assessment to clarify the path forward, developing the strategy, leading implementation, or coaching you through the leadership challenges that come with it. Often it means all of these things over the course of a relationship.

I personally lead every engagement from the first conversation to final implementation. No handoffs, no junior consultants, no surprises. What you see is what you get.

What Clients Tell Me

Most of my work comes through referrals and repeat engagements. Clients tell me they value having someone who hits the ground running, understands their environment without needing it explained, and stays invested in the outcome long after the engagement ends.

Testimonials

“Rena has a rare skill for linking process improvement to organizational strategy.  Her technique gets to the “why” and uncovers the root of the issues.  The result is effective and timely results that stick because there’s buy-in at all relevant levels.  Rena’s methods not only improved our processes.  She raised the organization to a higher level of thinking and performance."
